On September 13, 1851 the revered ABMU missionary, Rev. John Taylor Jones passed away in Bangkok. After almost two years of work in Burma, Jones along with his first wife Eliza Grew Jones, had helped to found the ABMU mission in Bangkok in 1833  During his eighteen years of service, in Siam, Jones had translated the New Testament into Siamese and had edited this work until a 3rd edition. Jones had also begun work on an Old Testament Siamese translation, before his passing.
