Mabel Cort and her husband played key roles in building up medical work in northern Thailand and were the hosts to Prince Mahidol of Songkhla while he served as a doctor in Chiang Mai.

On July 8, 1878, Edna S. Cole was assigned to serve in Siam by the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions. She would serve in Siam until retiring as a missionary in 1923.
